Bukhara
Over a millennia ago, Bukhara was described as "the focus of splendour..., the meeting-place of the unique figures of the age, the rising-place of the stars of the literary men of the world, and the forum for the outstanding personages of the time". Sounds like just the spot for our fabulous teams to gather before the final push to Dushanbe!
After the deserts of Kazakhstanand Uzbekistan, the oasis city of Bukharawith its cool buildings and shaded pools will be just the place to rest and wash off the dust. The Kalyan minaret so impressed Genghis Khan that when his men destroyed the city in the 13th Century, they were ordered to spare it and since then, the mosques, bazaars and madressas that have been built in this centre of Islamic scholarship have created a city well deserving of it's UNESCO World Heritage status.
Peruse some of the photos from our recent trip there!
